AITOOW can't figure out why every self-proscribed "reasonable" figure head is taking the side of mysticism over freedom of speech/expression? I'm not for wasting things, but, it's a book of fairy tales we are preferring to the right to have an opinion and voice it. I thought the definition of insanity was believing in something when there is no evidence of it. That is what religion is. The Koran is a book that promotes insane ideas (fairy tales). It and all other religious texts are dangerous. We should prefer any right in the Constitution to that one. Our leaders are choosing to defend a book that promotes our mental erosion/subjegation over my right to inform you of its pernicious agenda. Oh wait, when I put it like that it makes perfect sense. Sleep sheep. Sleep.
It's not even a practice of religion issue. It's a freedom of speech versus a potential local ordinance (burning without a permit) issue. And if it is the message in the Koran that we are protecting and not the book itself, the Supreme Court has said that the objects (ie American Flag) that hold the message have no protection. I guess you have to be a full professor of Constitutional Law and not a guest lecturer to grasp the issues. It's just more political expediency at the cost of our principles. If we are a nation of tolerance it is for that grumpy, hayseed in Gainesville and the exercise of his freedom to piss off his neighbors. Not a nation that defends his neighbors to run to the principal to tell on him.
