Almost 2x the national average. 44% female. A little below national average. To get an A in DIVERSITY, your black workers need to be 4x the national average and their bosses need to be 2x the national average. And the answer to the initial question is that diversity means that white people (especially men) need to be eliminated from the equation altogether. They give you no explanations for the differences in scores in judging events, they can't remember times in timed events, they don't tell you what distance is necessary in distance events. In snowboarding, maybe you could say that landings were not clean, the height of the trick was low, etc (same in figure skating). In figure skating (it's funny that they took away the by country scoring) they could guess on who is scoring low and why (Jonnie Weir) and what their best mark could be if they make no mistakes. In ski jumping maybe the could let you know what distance the jumper needs to get a gold. The line in speed skating is good, but, is the announcer watching it. And it was funny that yesterday the cross country guy found the finish to be a complete surprise. Maybe to you because you have no clue. This never occured to him to be an option. The internet gives them ways of networking and editorializing they didn't have in the past. The Dems caught the first wave in '06 because they were more tech savvy. Now they are being taken out by the undertow. The Repubs will get they second wave in '10 but will probably waste it. The electorate is more federal now. As the world gets smaller and federalism is lauded in schools, the electorate has become Americans first and then members of their states. Now their competition is China, et al not Alabama. Politicians who survive by bringing pork back to their communities will not receive the support they did in the past. They must have a national perspective. You won't be able to rely on mutual back-scratching any longer. It's winner take all on all the large issues. And it's all about large issues at this point in our history. We are at a tipping point. The direction of our Federation will be charted this decade. Intra-state squabbling dissipates when you have the whole world breathing down your neck. You have to be big to compete (you think these disagreements are big wait until we have to join a multi-country union to compete). States can't do it alone. It's nothing our MNC's haven't been grappling with since the late '80's or the Federalists were warning about in the 1700's.

AITOOW thinks that health care reform lost its support because false-liberals found out they would have to chip in to pay for it? Not so necessary when it isn't being funded by income taxes that rich disproportionally subsidize. And what is all the BS about it bringing down cost? It will only bring down the cost of a plan per capita (because lots of healthy people will be charged and take no benefits). The overall net to the health insurance companies will be the same if not greater. If you want to control costs, let's talk price controls on doctors and hospitals first. Then tort reform. Then illegals. Then forced care. Then insurance premiums.

AITOOW watched the women's figure skating Saturday? I did because nothing else was on and I like to be reminded that not all women are fat. The Japanese skater got shafted. She was twice as good as the pudgy girl who won.

In the Year 2010-

AITOOW understands that Obama's numbers are slipping among Independents because of three reasons? 1. These people have no principles or loyalty and are by definition fickle. 2. They only voted for him in the first place because it made them feel post-racial. 3. They disliked Sarah Palin.

Now we wait and see if he is willing to go down with the ship or decide to save himself. I believe he will do a Clinton and become an impotent figurehead. These types of people can't accept premature irrelevance. He spent his entire life trying to climb this hill. He has nothing to aim for after this. He's too young to let his career ambitions disappear at this point. He has fallen in love with being in charge and will do anything to hang on to it. Unless a scandal makes being in the lime light untenable, he will choose to keep the crown.

Gore is already the nominal king of the planet so he can't even go there. He will be satisfied with being a lame duck who can use the bully pulpit to espouse his agenda and foreign policy powers to make the world adore him. Plus he will achieve enough window dressing (SC appointments, Gays in the military) to keep himself from feeling like too much of a sell out. It's a perfect fit. The US gets a small government Congress and a touchy feely President to provide a check against it's religious/social ambitions (veto power). Plus he gets to talk about issues instead of dealing with them. A liberals Nirvanah.

AITOOW notices that people who now think of themselves as "changed" think that everyone judges them on their "progress" not the totality of their lifes work. It's a point of disonance. What one feels about oneself versus how others feel about you. It can cause a lot of friction. The reverse is true if one screws up. Then they want you to remember the totality of impressions not this latest discrepancy.

AITOOW doesn't get who at AT&T coordinated their latest commercials? Let's get an over weight B list actor (Luke Wilson) and let him dress like a hobo and eschew a razor. I know he wants to because he's let himself go and is evidently every bit as suicidal as his Gonzo nosed brother. But, someone tell him that stuble doesn't hide a third chin. This wouldn't even be acceptable in regional theater. And he's dressed like he came from Good Will in EVERY commercial! And they might want to show him surfing and talking (if this is there number 1 sales pitch) via Blue Tooth. It makes no sense if people are imagining a guy talking with the phone at his ear.

AITOOW doesn't understand why this was staged as a musical or movie. The story is dull. The characters are venal. The music is forgetable. Someone actually chose this as subject material. I think I would have passed in favor of nothing.

Field Position

AITOOW gets a thrill every time a punter gets the extra roll? I just love watching that ball tumble closer and closer to the plane of the goal. I don't care which team kicked the ball. And why don't punters get the extra yardage from the scrimmage line to where they kick from added to their total like kickers get?

AITOOW didn't come away impressed with Avatar? I mean aside from the banal script, granola demagogery and derivative plot, the effects weren't that much better than what Peter Jackson came up with in Lord of the Rings or King Kong. And yes it's Jackson's studio that did the work and invented the processes. Not Captain Tell Me I'm a Naughty Boy. I liken the advances to XBox graphics vs Playstation. If Star Wars was Atari v Pong. And Jurassic Park was Nintendo 64 v Nintendo NES. Then this leap was only XBox v PS. Not a huge leap. In fact I found the 3D wouldn't let me concentrate on the story.

While we're on it, how come every initial scene on dangerous territory has everything from the mosquitos to the carnivores after you and then as the scenes go on you can just walk through the jungle like you are walking in a mall?
