No Ire Land

AITOOW wonders why the Irish don't seem to mind being managed by overlords from the Continent? But, English "management" was never acceptable. Did the English overstep or were they reacting to Irish resistance that hasn't manifested itself so far? Just realized the fittingness of their name - Land of Ire.
