Open Mirage

AITOOW wonders how much "open mindedness" is a coping/defense mechanism? How many of these "minds" are just people that just weren't invited to the "cool kid's table" and had no other choice but to accept other arrangements? And how many of these "elites" are just being pragmatic or are part of an ethnic "cool kids table". IE They live (or go to school) in communities where they are the minority. Aren't they just the garden variety "close minded" then? And how many secretly are ashamed of the choices they were pushed into by living in these communities and use the "open minded" justification to rationalize their shame? And let's not even get into the whole "close mindedness" TOWARDS the "in" group.
